Private, local logistics Production

SSCC Check Digit Validator

Check the GS1 SSCC Mod-10 check digit locally, while keeping the distinction between mechanical consistency and assignment clear.

Production only — no account, registry lookup, saved inputs, sharing, or tracking query. Calculation inputs stay in this browser. If you allow analytics, Google receives usage events without input values. Only your analytics preference is saved.

Check an SSCC

Choose whether you have the 17-digit body or all 18 digits. Do not add spaces, punctuation, or an application identifier to the input.

Worked example

A leading-zero SSCC body, calculated in full

Body 06141410000000004 produces weighted sum 35, check digit 5, and complete SSCC 061414100000000045.

The check digit 5 makes this 18-digit string mechanically consistent with the locked GS1 Mod-10 method. It does not prove that the SSCC was assigned, is unique, is authorized, or identifies a shipment.

How the model works

A transparent mechanical check

The rightmost body digit receives weight 3, then weights alternate 1 and 3 moving left. Products are shown in original left-to-right position order.

01

Keep the body as text

All 17 or 18 digits stay strings, so leading zeroes remain visible and safe to paste into a label workflow.

02

Inspect every weight

Each digit's position, alternating weight, product, and weighted sum are exposed rather than hidden behind a score.

03

Read the boundary

A matching digit means mechanical consistency only. It does not establish assignment, uniqueness, authorization, tracking, or barcode compliance.

Context only

Primary source notes

These references establish the locked algorithm and SSCC display context. Source reference (text only): links are enabled after hydration; this Production does not fetch them at runtime.

Questions

Before you act on a result

Does a matching check digit prove a number is assigned?

No. A matching check digit only shows mechanical consistency; it does not prove assignment, uniqueness, authorization, or tracking.

What does (00) mean here?

(00) is shown as the human-readable GS1 application identifier prefix. It is not part of the 18-digit SSCC body and this Production does not create a barcode.

Does this tool look up a company prefix or shipment?

No. The calculation stays in this browser tab and never queries a registry, account, order, warehouse, carrier, or tracking system.
